Ixpe City

I was contacted by the RTBF for a charity event with the mission to build an interactive city. This environment was later showcased on screens during a two-day live Twitch event.
I had a tight deadline of one week to bring the entire city to life.
When I joined the project, the environment was an existing city constructed in 3D within a large Unreal Engine scene, and an artist was already working on the visual assets. However, there was no interactivity possible. My role was to implement a camera control system allowing navigation around the city and to integrate various interactive events.
The map was designed to be time-synced and was built over the two days of the live event, with Twitch donations generating real-time feedback and the in-game sun tracking the actual time in Belgium. Given such a short timeframe, I am quite proud of what I managed to achieve, even if the final optimization was quite awful.

As you can see, the city changed over time: furniture would appear, the grime would be cleaned, and the water would gradually return to its clear color throughout the event.

On the event, the city was projected on a big screen behind the main stage

It was a weird feeling to see a lot of people cheering in front of it
